Autoimmune diseases happen when the body mistakenly produces harmful antibodies that attack its own organs and tissues. There are around 100 of these diseases, affecting about 240 million people globally. Although some treatments exist, there’s still a big need for better, targeted options, especially ones that are easy to take, like oral medications.
Most advanced treatments today are given through IV or under the skin. These methods can be inconvenient and affect a patient’s quality of life. That’s why an oral treatment like the study drug could be a game-changer, making treatment easier and more appealing, especially for people who prefer to avoid needles. This study aims to create more effective and accessible potential medication for millions of people across the globe.
This is a first-in-human (FIH) study, meaning it is the first time the potential treatment is being tested in people. The study has been carefully designed with strict safety protocols and has been approved by an independent ethics committee. It is not known whether the study drug may cause unexpected, serious, or life-threatening side effects. While these are considered unlikely, you will be carefully monitored throughout the study and provided with prompt treatment if any such effects occur.
Before joining, you’ll receive detailed information about the study, meet with a doctor, and have the chance to ask any questions.
