Dr Philip Ryan is a physician-scientist and clinical research leader with over 20 years of experience in healthcare and neuroscience. He currently serves as Medical Director at Nucleus Network, where he oversees a team of Principal Investigators and leads a portfolio of first-in-human Phase I clinical trials across diverse therapeutic areas including neurology, psychiatry, respiratory, endocrinology, immunology, infectious disease, and vaccines.

Dr Ryan holds a PhD in Neuroscience and a Diploma in Pharmaceutical Medicine from the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Medicine (UK). He has led groundbreaking research on neural circuits regulating fluid intake and appetite, using advanced genetic technologies in animal models.

Academic and Research Excellence

• Chief Investigator on an NHMRC Ideas Grant (2021), DECRA Fellow (2019), and recipient of the Rebecca L. Cooper Foundation Grant (2020).
• Winner of the AW Campbell Prize (2019) by the Australasian Neuroscience Society for best postdoctoral neuroscientist in Australasia.
• Published 24 peer-reviewed articles and 4 book chapters, including in Nature Neuroscience, PNAS, and Frontiers in Immunology.

Clinical Trial Expertise

Dr Ryan has served as Principal Investigator on over 30 clinical trials, including:

• Novel neuroprotective agents
• Inhaled biologics for asthma
• Oral therapies for dermatology and metabolic disorders
• Vaginal pharmacokinetics and women’s health studies

He is known for his meticulous oversight of trial safety, protocol compliance, and data integrity, and is actively involved in dose escalation decisions, adverse event management, and regulatory compliance.

With a rare combination of clinical, academic, and operational expertise, Dr Ryan is at the forefront of translating neuroscience discoveries into therapeutic innovations.
