Endometriosis is a chronic condition affecting 190 million women worldwide. It occurs when endometrial-like tissue grows outside the uterus (‘lesions’), typically in the pelvis. Common symptoms include severe pain, heavy menstrual bleeding, bleeding between periods, bloating, fatigue, anxiety, and depression.

Chemotherapy-induced peripheral neuropathy (CIPN) is a common side effect of cancer treatment. It happens when chemotherapy drugs damage peripheral nerves, causing tingling, burning, cold sensations, and nerve pain in the hands and feet.

Both endometriosis-associated pain and CIPN can severely impact quality of life. Researchers are developing a potential new treatment using cannabidiol (CBD) to help relieve pain and reduce inflammation. This study medication also leverages CBD’s ability to protect cells from damage and prevent the growth of new blood vessels, potentially enhancing its effectiveness.
