Covid-19 Liquid Vaccine Study
This study is testing a new vaccine for Coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2), the virus that has caused the outbreak of COVID-19.
This vaccine is based on a genetically modified form of a bacterium called Bifidobacterium longum that is naturally present in our intestinal tracts. In healthy adult digestive systems, these bacterium digest dietary fibre, help prevent infection and produce vitamins and other important chemicals. In this study, it has been modified to allow the production of a molecule found on the surface of SARS-CoV2, triggering the immune system to create antibodies against the virus without needing to be exposed to the virus. This is intended to help your immune system recognise the coronavirus, develop a protective immune response, and prevent future infection.
The goal of the study is to determine the safety of the vaccine and measure how strongly it triggers the body’s immune response. You will not be exposed to coronavirus by taking part in this study.
The trial has been approved by an independent ethics committee and you will be reimbursed for your time.
